Building meaningful relationships through thoughtfully crafted coffee, with an intentional approach from soil to cup.

Parea Coffee Lab is an emerging social enterprise inspired by the founder, Jose’s culture, college experience, and conviction that coffee is more than just a drink. Coffee can create a deeper sense of belonging, companionship, and community through connection and hospitality.

Our Roots

Growing up in Venezuela, I found that coffee was part of almost every social interaction. I do not recall a single moment when my grandma or mom did not offer coffee to a guest. That made me realize coffee is also a symbol of hospitality, warmth, and connection.

Finding Connection Through Coffee

When I moved to the U.S., I could not find that same warmth, hospitality, and connection again. I missed the closeness of the relationships I grew up around. After years of trying to find them, in 2024, during my first year of college, I joined NCC Enactus, a school organization at North Central College that helps students gain real entrepreneurial skills through coffee, while also using coffee as a way to bring people together and make connections.

Through these experiences, I discovered coffee carries a deeper meaning. It can open conversations, build community, and make people feel at home.

Why Parea?

Inspired by my culture and college experience, I wanted to create something that brings people together and bridges the gap between the farm and our guests while fostering a community that values hospitality and connection.

One night, I came across the Greek word Parea, παρέα, and felt it captured that idea. It represents a gathering of friends sharing life for the pure joy of being together.

Our Commitment

Parea Coffee Lab is committed to providing that warmth and hospitality to our guests, while establishing a new standard for building relationships and responsibility in coffee.

This mission and vision guide the foundation and values in which we operate. We ensure we have an intentional approach from the soil of the farm all the way to the cup our guests receive. This allows us to deliver a high-quality product to our guests while being at the forefront of relationships, sustainability, and prosperity.

Direct Trade

We work as closely as possible with like-minded partners across the world, building relationships and trading at sustainable rates that support sustainable livelihoods, access to healthcare, education for their children, and reinvestment in their communities.

Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to sustainability from soil to cup. We partner with farmers who use organic practices, and we strive to reduce emissions and compost waste in our operations. By partnering with coffee-growing communities and supporting the local environment, we contribute to environmental programs that help build a more sustainable future.

Coffee Craft and Research

A student mindset is fundamental to our operations and helps us create a better experience for our guests. We experiment with new blends, recipes, and feedback to keep improving the coffee experience. This allows us to create coffee with the care, hospitality, warmth, and connection we want every cup to carry.
